Sketch my girlfriend art directed me on. :) I love her for zillions of reasons, but a big one is that she takes an active interest in my art, and loves my dark stuff! Epic win!

Notice 2 of them are the front and back covers of a book. It's a sketchbook I recently bought that allows you to draw on the covers as well as the pages within. NEAT-OH.

Here are 2 new pieces. They both deserve to be revisited I think. I'll post here so I'm reminded of that. The aquatic "eye" piece is one I'd really like to flesh out. Hmm... ideas?

This was inspired by yesterday's visit to The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History... and a bit of a dream I woke to this morning.

10 new sketchbook pieces I've done over the past couple weeks.

Did the fish-looking guy for an art trade. I got a wicked sculpture in return. I'll have to remember to photograph and upload it.

The baby is the result of an idea I had when I was thinking of cramming to finish "The Punisher" theme last night for DrawerGeeks.com. Frank Castle as a brooding infant, already holding criminals in contempt.

Here's what I finished up today... I noodled away on this longer than anticipated. It was fun, but I wish I had designed it at least a little bit instead of running with random shapes entirely. Still, here's a creepy bugger I can be fond of.

These two are for a forum activity called "Draw My Character." Simply put, you draw a creature someone else has drawn, with your own spin on it, then draw another creature for the next artist to do the same, rinse & repeat. You can see the critter another artist drew that I redrew, then the last image is the creature I drew for the next artist to take on. Hope that all made sense. If not, tough luck. I'm too lazy to fix my explanation.

Went to a coffee shop at Borders with a friend yesterday and started this one. I finished it on his couch, watching a movie. This went quickly, which is why it's not particularly inspired, but he was still quite a bit of fun. I have an idea for a new one. Can't wait to get started. :)

Another drawing exploring style. Still trying to find it. This isn't there, but it's aligned with the mood I'm shooting for. That's pretty good! Wee!

Still trying to find my voice with this experimenting. This is not a success, but I definitely enjoyed working on it.

As Nathan's comment suggests, I'm one cat who isn't often delivering on the updates. I'll hurry and post some recent sketches I did for a fun online contest I'm participating in. This should lead to full on concepts and painting. I have some body concepts too, but they're not up to par yet. They'll be along soon.

It's high time I updated. I have tons to show, but I been bad. I'll be back a few times over the next week or so to upload a bunch of the newer stuffs. This post is to show some of the art I did for the Tori Amos Comic Book Tattoo for Image Comics. Story by my great friend Jeff Carroll inspired by Tori's song, "Toast." Tori loved the story so much (The song was written for her brother who died in a car accident, and Jeff, in turn, wrote the story in memory of his wife who had recently lost his wife to breast cancer. She energetically embraced him when they met, gushing about the story. I think she gave me a healthy smile and handshake, heheh.). Included are the ugly thumbs for page 2, and some progress pics. I was going to upload all 5 pages, but I'll hold off doing that for a while. Speaking of Tori, you may or may not know/remember that I did a painting in one of her calendars. I think this was for December 2006.

Hey Ryan, remember when we saw that redneck family and I got you laughing good and hard by that comment (in the pic)? Heheh... good times. The theme at drawergeeks.com was "rednecks" so I immediately thought of that. The other drawing was my last of '07. Sketched in a coffee shop in Denver with some art friends I made when I lived there.
